I'm revisiting an earlier problem (see Ignition/Overheating post in this category) that just popped up again.  I have a 65 coupe with an electronic ignition system that has a coil with an external resistor (on inner fender apron).  I want to convert to a coil without the external resistor, but I'm not sure how to do it.  Any recommendations?

Here is the problem I started with:  NO SPARK

Okay, here is the full rundown on my car
1. 65 V8 4bbl coupe w/electronic ignition
2. Borg Warner ignition control module
3. Black coil marked "use with external resistor only"
4. External resistor mounted on inner fender apron near starter relay.
5. Motorcraft electronic distributor

The steps I've taken to resolve the issue thus far:
1. Replaced the ignition module with a new one
2. Replaced the coil with an Accel coil (do not know if I should use it with the external resistor or not?)

My current status:  SPARK, car will start, but shuts off immediately.  I think it might be the timing, but I'm not sure.  Any ideas or suggestions would be great.  Thanks.
