I have a '65 Mustang coupe 200CID, auto that has been sitting for 3 months. I was checking the lights and safety equipment so I could get it inspected and found the headlights will not work.
I installed a new dimmer switch and headlight switch, but the same problem exists.
The wierd part is the driving lights (position 1) work, directionals, brake lights work, but when we go to position 2, the headlights AND front driving lights do not work! Directionals still function in position 2, just no head or front driving lights.
Help! What's the problem?

Have you checked the wiring at the headlights? Also make sure the grounds are good for that circuit.

Actually found that the previous owner made some wire splices near the dimmer that left a lot to be desired.
I made new splices and soldered the connections and VIOLA! the headlights now work!
Still one sticky issue, the driving lights don't work WITH the headlights. The work as directionals (Headlights off) and in position 1, but nothing in position 2, though they still operate as directionals.
I did check all grounds and headlight connections before finding the splice problem.
Any ideas?
