Hi,
I love cars and in particular my 2005 mustang GT.  However in terms of my knowledge of whats under the hood I know absolutely nothing.  I was wondering if you had any advice on how to spend around $1000 on modifications.  Things that are most important to me are power, throttle response, and a deeper throatier sound.  I have automatic transmission and i was also wondering if certain modifications aren't as effective on an automatic.

Any suggestions on what kind of parts to add as well as brands would be greatly appreciated!

thanks!

As with any car, there are a few basic to start with. First of all, get a cold-air kit. Getting cool air into the engine as opposed to the hot underhood air will make an immediate difference. Next would be exhaust for that throatier sound. Once you have those in place, you can get the ECM computer reprogrammed for more power and throttle response.

Take a look through the magazine for vendors, etc.

Keep us up to date on your progress!

I'm in the process of doing the same thing.  My mechanic has recommended Ford Racing cold air induction kit and Ford Racing after cat exhaust.  He has also recommended an SCT tuner and switching to premium gas.  My questions are: will I burn up my valves if I switch to premium and is 3.5" exhaust better than 4.0"?  Seems the 3.5" are more expensive, and I read I'll lose power off the line if I go with 4.0".
