I have just gotten a 97 coupe from my fiancee.  If you had this vehicle where would you start with additions/modifications ?  I'm new to doing this so any and all info would be helpfull.

With any late model Mustang, start with these basics.

Cold air kit, exhaust, and computer chip/reprogram in that order.

After you get those installed, add some suspension mods. These can go a few different ways. If you want to drag race, then drag springs, rear control arms, and drag radial tires. If you want to road race, lowering springs all around, shocks and struts, sway bars will get you started.

You can read through the tech articles on this site, to get an idea of exact parts and/or manufacturers to use. You can mix and match some ofthe engine parts.

If you're going to get serious with suspension mods for drag and road racing, then you should really stay with one manufacturer. If you mis and match manufacturers in this area, you won't get the results you'd expect.

Let us know how you make out!
