I am a virgin folks so please be gentle.  My daughter bought “Black Betty”, as she calls it, last year and much has gone into “her” since.  As you can imagine - there are a lot of issues at hand.

I have already seen other subject(s) on upgrading seats from later models.  But, is there a dealer/manufacturer that deals in replacement seats?  My thoughts are to replace OEM seats with a high back or one with a head rest.  The OEM seat frames are broken and seem sort of shoddy it design and strength.

There is no problem with buying them uncovered and having them covered by a pro.  Nonetheless, I do not need all the frills supplied by some manufacturers.  I do however have my eye on one seat by Corbeau.

Can someone shed some thought or light on my thoughts?  All I need is an economical replacement that serves the purpose well.

Thanks Guys.

1st time post

if you want to look sort of stock but be upgraded, i'd say go with a TMI Sport Seat Upgrade with the headrest and have it done by a pro who is associated with a Mustang resto shop. get a quote first before you jump in and buy everything cause it can add up .  I had it done on my 67 ragtop seats and looks great. i walked in to the Ocala, FL  warehouse of NPD and they had one (light blue on dark blue) on the floor so i ordered it. TMI won't sell direct. if you take 66 to a car show and want to take a nap, just lean it back and your will be supported easily by the headrest. if you want to go a different route with different style seat ask a Mustang resto shop what options are. there was article in MMonthly or Must&FastFords within past year about 66 yellow restomod from Texas with re-skinned Toyota Supra seats. i think it was an inline 6 cylinder car. someone out there knows the mag and month. i'll check. if you find  seats that fit and are in good shape but wrong color, Eastwood Co. in Pottstown, PA has the ratttle cans for fabric to repaint it your desired color. good luck ,rob

I certainly appreciate your response and wanted to include this link.

I looked at TMI’s website and it appears that they do not manufacture new seats.  I want this as an option since the seat frame is busted and looks like it has been re-welded at least one other time.

Will you take a look at the link and see if you think there may be a better avenue for me to take.  My thoughts were to have them covered by a pro.  He does have access to different coverings and does a lot of retro work.

Thanks for your time and thoughts,
Richard

that looks like a respectable seat. i can't fault you for wanting to upgrade to a safer seat frame. i just looked for car seats on ebay motors and i found a bunch of auto dismantlers that have quality seats out of wrecked cars. there was one that claimed to be the biggest LKQ Online . i googled it and their website at a link to their eBay store. buyer beware though. who knows if the seat posts would fit your 4 holes in your 66 floor.
