does anyone know what the original color was for the engine bay of a 1966 mustang, its a 289. I know its black but i don't know if its gloss or satin or semi. if anyone knows it would be greatly appreciated.

Its flat black but you can get the perfect color from one of the dealers such as CJ pony or NPD or Mustangs Plus. Gloss black is definitely wrong but I have seen a number of blacks that are not flat but more like a satin finish. Depends on how correct you want to be. For concours use the correct flat from the dealers.

hey bud , im just new here too ,my understanding is the engine bay should be a satin finish - my one is and i have a 66 too.
