I have a problem at idle, the engine surges, 7-800 rpm to 300 in a cycle, then sometimes dies
doesn't happen until it is to operating temp.

any clues as to what may be the issue?

started with the problem after overheating, shut it off and let it cool, replaced thermostat, that seems to be fixed now??????

i have the same car but not the problem. i'm curious as to what you did about it should it ever happen to mine. i suspect the idle control valve may have gone bad ..
