I just replaced the neutral safety/backup light switch on the driver side of the C4 tranny. I adjusted the switch with the drill bit per shop manual. I conected the square connector where the previous switch was wired. Fuses are all good. Bulbs are fine. All other lights work fine. The car starts fine. Back-up lights STILL do not work. H E L P!!!

I am posting this so others can benefit from my mistake. I re-checked the bulbs after a friend of mine commented "maybe you left them out when you were preparing for paint and had them off" So I opened them up. Brand new looking bulbs were installed in each. I then removed one and noticed the receptacle was wanting dual contact bulbs and I inadvertantly had single. The interesting thing here is that the fuse WAS blown however only the back-up lights didn't work. This was strange from looking at my shop manual other things should have stopped working as well. ANYWAY! they are fixed. I would encourage all to look to make sure the contacts are the same. I focused more on the frankenstein tabs sticking out from the bulb.

Thanks so much for posting this...I just installed new lights and they worked for a split second and then went out...everything else on the car worked and I was stumped. Turns out, I had the wrong lights and the fuse was blown.
Forum's are the best for this sort of thing.
