Donald Farr should jump in on this soon, but I believe it started out as a newsletter around 1978 and then became a thin, black and white magazine a few years later. I have a few of the older issues around and it's humorous now to look at them and see the hair, clothing styles and what we thought was important back then. If you really want a good cry, just check out the "For Sale" ads in the back of the magazines. Mach's, Bosses', and big block cars for just a few thousand dollars.

The first issue was February 1978, named the Mustang Exchange Letter at the time. Three issues later it became Mustang Monthly to eliminate confusion with the Super Ford Parts Change, another new magazine. Bill is right, the first issues were more like a tabloid, with mostly classified advertising. The first full-size issue with color was October 1979.

I don't know of anywhere in particular. I've seen single issues, and sometimes complete collections, for sale on eBay from time to time.
