what wire do i use to weld floor pans

hey peeps, ive bought my self a miller 110 mig welder and ive got 0.023 but i think i should use .030 to replace floorpans and rockerpannels....oh and i have never welded before so any advice or tips would be amazing so i dont ruin my coupe

Depends on if your using shielded wire or gas. I don't think it matters size-wise since it's the bead you make that does the job not the size of the wire. Consult the manual that came with the welder for their recommended sizing based on the metal thickness.

Your .o23(should be high stangth;not easy grind) wire is recomended by I-car standards for metal replacement flux core or sheilded wire is not recomended due to impuritys remaning in the weld, thus leading to weak welds. I would also recomend practicing on some scrap peices the same thicknes to get a feel for it, and get to know the welder settings.

Practice practice practice.... you've got a good machine and the 023 wire will be fine.... Get Ron Covell's Mig welding DVD.... it's a must-have.... then get my "Body Panel Replacelent!" DVD as well.... both are great resources and show lots of techniques.  Ron's shows more fundamental instruction to get you started, I'd get his first..... He uses Miller equipment as well.
