Need opinions on a use of 93 5.0 (minus intake/computer/balancer)and T5 trans.
I have a 1966 289 2V auto sitting in the coupe now. Looking for best solution/options on a dailey driver build up. Goal is increased power with long term dailey driving in mind. Thought's??

May be the first question I should ask is what to build on the 5.0 or the 289?

Depends on how much work you want to do and money to spend. The power and reliabilty is a little higher with the 5.0. But you can bolt either one to your C4 (with the proper 50oz flex plate for the 5.0),,or even put in the T-5 if you like(rebalance the flywheel for the 289). The T-5 has an overdrive and sure makes that freeway driving a lot nicer and easier on gas. The 289 is more stock if you plan on keeping it stock but externally they look the same. Internally the 5.0 has the one piece rear main and is set up for roller rockers and will bolt on the serpentine belt drive which is nice. In short, I think the 5.0 is a newer more reliable engine with some nice power adders but it will cost you more to change over to adapt to your 66(pulleys,cam,oil pan, etc). In the long run though the 5.0 with that T-5 would be a nice package for daily driving.

Yeah, if you are on a budget and need to squeeze every penny each month, the 289 and adding the T5 would be the route to go for a daily driver. You will notice more power with the 5.0, but if you get used to the 289 on a daily driving experience it has plenty of power for a daily driver. The T-5 will save a bunch on the gas bill if you have freeway driving to do each day, but if not then just keep the C-4 for a grocery getter and short drive to work car. Ideally, you would get the newer roller rocker 5.0 and the T-5, but that would depend on your budget. And, as far as add-ons, I would keep it stock for a DD. If you hotrod it too much you won't be able to afford the gas it will take as a DD.
