I have just purchased a 1968 Ford Mustang Convertible.
I am waiting its arrival. I live in British Columbia Canada and the car is in transit from the east coast U.S.
I had the car inspected before buying and was sent a full written report and 170 pictures. I now know it needs some elbow grease mainly on the undercarriage but cant wait to get my hands on it during the off season.
It has a 302 4v, 4 speed. It looks to be a 8" rear end?
I will know better once I get my hands on it!! I hope in about one more week.
I will at that time ask Mustang Monthly members some brain teasers. Any response is greatly appreciated.
The cars ad listed it as a 1968 Ford Mustang Convertible GT the inspector wrote the car up as a GT. I then asked the inspector on the phone if he was positive on whether the car was a GT and he said he was not 100% sure but he said it had factory punch outs for the fog lights.
I will list what it has in the GT bits and pieces
1. FOG LIGHTS 2.WOOD STEERING WHEEL 3.DUAL EXAUST CUT OUTS ON THE BACK VALANCE WITH A FOUR PIPE CHROME TIPS OFF DUAL EXAUST 4. AIR INTAKE VENTS ON THE SIDES 5.FRONT DISC BRACKES, DRUMS ON REAR.
I will have much more to ask in the future and all info from members comes with a big thank-you

Good luck with your purchase ZSZSLY, it sounds like a great mustang. Dont miss the bellevue Mustang show near Seattle this year. More mustangs then you have ever seen in one place, see ya there.

It sounds as though you are excited.  You should be.  Your vert sounds like a solid one that you can dink around with and get it back to perfection.  Have fun with it.

I owned a 1968 mustang coupe from 1977 to 1985 and loved that car. I had to let it go back in the day and after 22 years of life without the stang I have a replacement on its way.Yes I am very excited. I listed some items that the car has as GT options? I tried to do some research on the car sight unseen on whether its a 1. clone 2. factory GT 3. factory add on's by order or other?. 4. sprint
any help from members on identifying the cars factory origin?  any questions or information would be appreciated.   Thanks, Sly

It could very well be a GT, or at least a Sprint "B" package. Ford called it their " see the light sale" in the spring and summer of 1968. For the 1968 mustang, the sprint package provided the GT looks without the GT price tag. And the sprints were available with six cylinder engines and two barrel V8's.

The Sprint package differed by cylinder count, with sixes getting a C-stripe and pop open gas cap (non GT identification) and full wheel covers. On V-8 sprints, GT fog lights were added, styled steel wheels with wide oval tires replaced full wheel covers and pop open gas caps (again no GT badges) were added. Basically, the 68 Sprint mustangs were low-buck GT's, you got the GT looks without the cost of the GT's four barrel engine and heavy duty suspension.

Contact Kevin Marti and have him run your car by VIN. He will send you a Marti report (get the deluxe version for about $45) that will have when and where your car was built, which District Sales Office it was sold through, the dealership, and will include a list of factory options. It will also give exterior/interior colors, as well as the engine details. If it is a factory GT, it will also have that listed also. I had one run for my 1968 Convertible. It's fun to see what it was ordered with originally.  I had one done for my car, and found out that it was sold through Ojai Ford in Ojai California, along with the address for the dealership. I was able to run the address on the internet and found that the dealership is still open under the name Bronk Vreeland Ford. I contacted them and told them that I have a car that was sold from their dealership in 1968. They sent my two license plate surrounds for the cost of postage. Nice addition to the car.. Good luck and have a blast with your 68 convertible.

And, it will be $45 well spent.  Especially if you don't know if it is a sprint or a GT.

Good advice. You can get the info about Kevin Marti and his reports at www.martiauto.com.
