I have a 1965 Mustang convertible which we recently converted to dual exhaust. The problem is, there is not enough clearance between the rear brake hose and the tail pipe on the left side.
Is there a longer hose that can be purchased or can we convert the rear brake lines and hose to the factory dual exhaust set up which appears to have a dfferent hose but with a special bracket? I am told that I can not just use this hose without replacing the rigid lines as well.

Yes there are different hard and soft lines for the factory dual and single exhaust cars.

Take your Mustang to a muffler shop and have them adjust the tailpipe so that it misses the brake line. I went from a single muffler to a dual with no problem, but I had it done at a Midas Muffler shop. As far as replacing the rubber hose, as long as the bracket is 3/16" then it will hook right up to the existing rigid line.

Why didnt you do it yourself at home soaring ?? Its easy, get yourself a mig welder and a cutoff saw ,,, maybe you can learn something along the way before allowing someone else to mess up a classic mustang. I thought no else had ever touched it. Ha ha hahahaha ,,,inside joke there. lol

Nobody has ever touched the mechanics of my 65 but me. But, as far as other aspects such as the bodywork and the mufflers, I am not stupid enough to buy a $500 welder to do a $100 job, and I don't have a lift in my home garage. Do you? My hope is that I can gather enough coins together to build a pole barn that is about 14 feet high so I can put in a lift and have all the room in the world to tear apart Mustangs and put them back together. But, as of now.....I am just a retired school teacher who likes to get grease under my fingernails.

OK, I forgive ya'. You sounded serious. Might ought to use a smiley face when joking. I used to own a mig, but sold it when I left the farm. Nothing like a good mig with argon. I just have a regular garage with an attic above it with the flooring, so can store car parts up there. I guess I could knock out the ceiling to my garage and put in a lift, but that would be pretty expensive. And, I wish there was a place around here where you can rent a lift for a day, etc. No such animal here, so it is with the creeper style of mechanic work for me. A transmission jack would be nice to have, but how many times do you need one? They rent for what? Not much compared to buying one. Same for a cherry picker.
