I have a 1967 mustang straight six and am looking to convert the front drum brakes to disks but want to keep the 4 lug pattern and was wondering if there are any kits out there that do this if not will the one for the 1965 mustang put out by SSB that was used in the how to demonstration fit on the 67?

There's a 4 lug kit listed in the California Mustang catalog(pg 80)also NPD shows one for the 65-66 4 lug, it might fit 67 also (pg 60)

Contact SSBC, they have kits for this conversion.  I did the same conversion on a 65 and it could not have been any easier.  1 1/2 hours total from start to finish.  That was about 5 years ago and 15000 miles.  Not one single problem.  One piece of advice, always go with the duel MC.  Good luck.

Don't forget if you go with disk brake swap with or witout a dual MC you should really put in a proportial valve to get the right amount of braking out of the mod. See last month's MM(I believe) for the install help.

The dual MC is a must with this conversion.  Don't think twice about it.  I replaced my brake lines when I did the dual MC conversion simply because the ones on there were 43 years old.  Yeah, once you get into it, you keep adding parts and projects.  That's just the nature of the beast.

I would agree with Soaring on this. Having that extra resivoir on the MC as a backup is worth the cost of the mod itself from a saftey point of view.

If you have ever had to slam on your brakes at a relatively high speed to avoid an accident, then you know the feeling of having good brakes.  But, if you have that same scenario and one of your wheel cylinders blows from the pressure, you lose all braking power.  With the dual bowl, you at least have either front or back brakes depending on which wheel cylinder blew.
