You can put disk brakes on your 8.8 rear end and change the axles to 5 lug. This will be cheaper than putting a Ford 9" in it. Your 8.8 should be strong enough for all but extreme horsepower. What kind of trouble are you having with the 8.8? Detroit Lockers normally make discomforting noises because they work like ratchets. I would leave the quad shocks in place. They dampen wheel hop.

Like previously stated, your 8.8 will be fine. As far as the quad shocks go, it seems to be a case-by-case basis. If you have a good set of replacement shocks and a good set of upper/lower control arms, you will not need the Quad shocks. I am running Bilstein shocks and boxed upper/lower control arm, and no quad shocks. I have no wheel hop issues. Then there are people who still have all the factory stuff on and run no quad shocks and have no problems.
