My name is Paul and I am new here. I used to restore 65-68 Mustangs in Los Angeles in the early 1980's for Trampco Mustang in Reseda if anyone knows who that was.
Now I have a shop in Central California and I am currently looking to purchase a 1966 coupe. The lady who owns it, it was her Fathers car. She has the recipt for the deposit her dad put on the car. Its an A code, its got underdash air, center console. Its a california Car, Its got the smog pump and everything on it. She says it's never been wrecked but it was painted the same color once. its a cream color. The front bumper is dented but the rest of it will clean up really good. This car is an original, never restored car. The rubber is in amazingly good shape, original air cleaner, the air cleaner decal, everything. its got just over 100,000 miles on it. It has been sitting in the garage off and on since 1979. it has the original black and yellow Plates. She says it hasn't run in a long time and it needs some transmission work. Its got a trailer hitch on it and a small dent in the passenger door that might get sucked out. the plastic chrome on the bezel and the door panels are faded but everything else in the interior is cherry, its unreal the condition of this car, My question for you all is this, What is it worth with a bum transmission? Its been a long time since I have priced any of these. She gave me a price that she wants but i would rather not say what that is right now. Thanks for the advice. feel free to email me or post it, I wiill be back. thanks.

It's worth whatever she is asking for it, or you can try to talk her down in price by offering something less. There is no Kelley Blue Book on these cars. It's probably worth anywhere from 5 to 8K though. However, if it is a California car, those guys are nuts.

I think an "A" code car is probably worth what Soaring says maybe a little more, depending on visual inspection. You can get a good idea of its real worth by looking at the prices on ebay and the NADA website for classic cars. A rebuilt trans is only about 500 - 800 bucks and good repo bumpers are less than 200. I wish my 66 had the blk plates.
