Traction bar installation done right?

Hi
While fixing up the rearend of a 1965 Mustang I noticed that the traction bars that were installed have the front brackets welded in the wrong way. They only come off with the weight off the tires! I guess they were welded in that way.
Is that a big issue? Will it eventually break something or missalign the rear suspension?
Thanks
Andy

Not getting the picture here Andy, can you please explain what you mean by 'They only come off with the weight off of the tires!"

Ok here we go!
The installation should be done while the weight of the car is on the tires(explained here on a tech article)

Mine look like they were bolted on while the car was on jackstands.
The bars are under tension when I put the cars weight back on the tires so they do not come off very easily but they are supposed to do so if I read the tech article right.
So here is my issue. Will this tension on the bars eventually break or missalign something under normal driving?
And Hey thanks for reply anyway!

Well I was waiting like jlg because I didnt understand but the fact that you have front connectors means you must be running the shelby type bars instead of the lakewood slapper type bar. In either case if you preload the suspension it can cause some problems. Thats what your doing when you have tension like that and if its different from side to side you wont go straight. It also affects your ride making it a bit harsh when it doesnt have to be. My guess is that early failure of the bars would be a distinct possibility also. You should relase the front attachment and re measure with the wheels down to see if you have to move it one way or the other and then reweld the front attaching point in place.

Yep! You're placing unnecessary wrap on the springs when you get it on the ground instead of when you accelerate. The ride will probably suffer and the weakest link will ultimately fail. Cut'em loose if possible and readjust with weight on wheels. (you may want to compensate the drivers side weight with your approximate weight so you get a truer engagement)
