My 1966 Mustang runs great except the transmission clunks when I put it in reverse, the whole car kind of shakes. Is it worn out tranny bushings, U-joints, or something else? Any ideas would be helpful.

Forgot to say the '66 Mustang above is a 289 C code automatic.

Clunks are usually ujoints or rear gears.

Did you check the motor mounts?

I replaced my rear universal, it made a significant improvement, also the idle was too high.
