Sorry guys,I was just so excited about my car,I started asking questions as soon as I registered on this site.
My name is Chris Im from Texas. Well where do I start?
When I was 15 my Dad gave me a 67 convertible,it ran but needed work. One of the main problems with the car was that the shifter was loose. One Saturday I turned the car and moved it out of the driveway ran back into the house to get some rags, car had a mind of its own car popped into gear and ran right into my gradparents brick home.We sold the car about 6 mos later. For the next 16 years I would stop at this guys house just to see what happened with the car.He always had the same story that he had sold it to a collector in Mexico.A few years had passed since the last time I had stopped in.A couple of months ago I stopped in looking for 66 or 67 coup for my 13 year old(project car of course). The guy didnt have anything decent. Before I left Ithought I would ask him about the convertible one more time,he fed me the same line that he had sold it. He told me though that he had a convertible that he had been working on for some time that if I wanted to I could take A look at it.In his garage sat a 67 convertible, body work had been done but paint job was horrible, interior was complete but not installed guy gave me his price but was 5,000 over what I wanted to spend,I told the guy that there was no way I coul afford it.Well I went home dissapointed, next day guy calls me and said he would throw in a 67 coup with 289 and transmission for same price who could of refused a deal like that.the day I went to pick up the cars the guy said he didnt have the title to the convertible, but he had the original bill of sale, and that i could probably get the title from the previous owner. The bill of sale was hand written it was for a 67 convertible on the bill of sale was the VIN and down at the bottom it was signed by no other than my DAD!!oh and about the lost title thank the man upstairs that MOTHERS DONT THROW ANYTHING AWAY.This July I gave my 13 year old his 1st car which was my 1st car.My dads 1st car was a 67 as was my little brothers, how weird is that.Over the next few months Ill be asking a lot of questions some silly some not so silly, can you all please keep in mind that we are beginners and we want to fix up the car ourselves you know father - son thing. Sorry story is so long.Ill post pics as soon as I can figure out how to.Thanks to all who have already answered some of my questions.

                                Thanks you all,

congradulations on reclaiming your very first pony. amazing that the guy didnt realize it was you that sold it to him but who cares..you it back.and even better your passing it along to your son were as your father gave it to you.
now comes the fun part...the restoration...i'm a beginner also but my son is away in the marines so i'm doing it on my own. when the car is done i;ll be given it to him when he comes back from iraq. just take your time do some upgrades like brake system for safty(that always comes first) ask alot of questions..even the ones you think are stupid. always remember the only stupid question is the one not asked.
good luck with it and have fun
