Generally speaking cars that are kept stock are worth more, but if a car is tastefully modified by someone who is a craftsman and does a good job ,,it will retain much of its value and some have shown the ability to attract money in large amounts for modified cars(not the norm however unless your the Ring bros). Yours is not a rare mustang so just do what makes YOU happy. Thats what makes this hobby so much fun,,,, don't hog tie yourself before you start. Have fun with it.

Thanks for the info. The 67 I bought was my 1st car when I was 15.I had the car for a year and a half when I wrecked it,left the car running shifter was loose car ran right into my grandparents brick house. Car sat for about 6 months and my dad sold it.For the next 15 years Ive been stopping by this guys house just to see what happened with the car.Over the years the man would tell me that he had sold the car to some collector in Mexico.Well 3 months ago I stopped in looking for a 67 coup for my 13 year old(project car of course). The guy didnt have anything I liked. So before I left I asked the guy one more time what happened with the car, he told me that he had sold it. Before I left, the guy told me that he had a project car that he had been working slowly on for the last 15 years and thought that I would want to take a look at it.He walked me to a shop on his ten acre automobile graveyard.Inside was 67 convertible painted white with blue lemans stripes more of a do it yourself paintjob. He had replaced the floor pans still had all the interior to the car center console and all the interior and exterior trim.Under the hood was a little inline 6. This car took me back to the day my dad drove into the driveway with my 67.Body was intact had a little bondo in the usual places it needed a new front bumper and front valance, besides that, car was fairly decent. He offered to sell me the car but his price was to high for what i was looking for. Before I left the guy offered to throw in a 67 coup parts car complete with a 289 engine and transmission. How could anyone pass up a deal like that I paid 6,500 for both cars. The day I picked up the cars the man told me that he didnt have the title to the convertible but he had a bill of sale from the gentlemen who sold him the car he said I could probably get the title from him.The man brought me a hand written bill of sale. The bill of sale was for a white 67 convertible w/ vin numbers and a 67 coup emberglo w/ vin numbers signed by no other than my father!!!!!The 67 coup was a car he picked up at an auction that never made it to our house,my dad had sold it to the same gentlemen. This July I gave my 13 year old his 1st car which was his dads 1st car a 1967 Ford Mustang Convertible, oh and about the lost title thank *** MOMS dont throw anything away.Sorry to bore you guys with this story Im just so excited about this car.We started (mind you all, were beginners)with a new brake system drums, drake lines and hoses shoes and master cylinder.Rebuilt the little 6,carburetor kit,and made sur all the lights work.Im doing this with my son and a retired GM Mechanic who does work fairly cheap. But Im stuck!!! whats next?I dont like the paint job but cant afford a new one right now.Interior is still not in the car, but I have all the new interior in my garage.Top needs to be replaced oh and about that 289 how hard would it be to convert my inline 6 to the 289.Or can I spruce up my inline 6.One more question Ive been looking at a lot Mtangs trying to get ideas. When I look at cars that have been restored to factory condition none of them have in dash air vents but when I look at pictures of GTA,S or deluxe models these cars have in dash air vents. Can somebody please shed some light?Ill post pics once i figure it out.

Great story. You can change it over to a 289 fairly easily, although it is not just an engine change. You need to change suspension and rearend along with the drivetrain. There are quite a few posts here discussing the changeover as well as several articles and a project car in MM. Give some thought to retaining the six. In these days of gas mileage the old sixes are looking better and they can be modified to give a little more horsepower without too much work.

Build it the way you want, the way you like and have fun with it. As for the air cond. vents, if the car came with air cond. from the factory it will have the in dash air vents (67' & up) I guess it wasn't an option that a lot of buyers chose in 1967.

I bought my 67' Fastback 3 yrs ago. I found the vin # on the cut out under the hood on the drivers side fender. I can only read 9 digits and they are pretty faint. I was wondering if I can get info on my car from the ID number on the driverside door?
