I am in the process of restoring my first 1967 Mustang & need your help. I can't figure out how to remove the side ornaments right below the quarter window. I see no way to remove them from the outside, but once I removed the quarter window, I can't see a nut on the back of the bolts that hold them in place. I am sure this is simple, but I don't want to bend the ornaments if I don't have to.
All help is greatly appreciated.

Soonerman, I just managed the same on my 66. I found that if you disconnect the window frame from the body (two bolts at the top that you can see through two holes in the body frame from inside the car and one at the bottom), then I could move the whole window mechanism to the side and toward the inside and got enough room to reach around it with a pliar. Fortunately, the nuts used to hold the emblem on are just sheet metal so the come off easily.

Oh, and I found it helps if you remove the rubber gasket where the door meets the door jamb, just in front of the window -- then you can shine your light down behind the window frame and see what you're doing.

Hi Soonerman, This is the easiest way. 1) Remove lower back seat, by pushing in & pulling up. 2) Remove the upper back seat. Two screws at the bottom, and it lifts off of it's upper clips. 3) Remove quarter window crank handle. 4) Remove the metal panel next to the seat. There are a few philips head screws holding it in. You then lift the panel up to un hook it from the top. 5) Carefully peel back the paper watersheild on the inside. There is a nice large opening from which you can see & access the nuts holding the side ornaments. While you're in there you can lubricate the window channels, and rollers. Let us me know how you made out. MB

Hi MJB1032
You know you're stuff alright. I'm new to restoration myself and somehow I figured out how to remove my side ornaments, just like you suggested to the other fellow.
Wonder if you can give me any help if you will please with: REMOVING MY CONVERT. TOP (1966 yr.)
Some facts:
My car is going to the sandblaster at the end of August. And I'm removing everything I can in order to bring the price $$$ down for the blasting.
I took the motor out and bored it out. The top is in its cradle (in the down position) I wonder if I made a mistake doing that
Any and all advise/help/websites will be GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Thank You MB GOD BLESS YOU Schooner
