How difficult is to swap the generator of my 64 1/2 to an alternator.  I have seen some online called “a single wire” alternator with an integrated voltage regulator, is it the answer?  Would like to add a few electrical upgrades to my vehicle but I’m concern about the capacity of the generator.

Thanks in advance!!

Upgrading from generator to alternator you'll need to change the amp meter. Otherwise, go for it.

There are some significant wiring issues to address in order to make your charging  indication system work properly. The one wire alternator is a good way to go from a charging standpoint. I've seen somewhere a conversion schematic / article on doing this, I can't recall if it was here in MM or in another forum. You might want to google for an conversion link.
