Has anyone out there reworked/rebuilt a six cylinder to improve performance?  

Our new toy, a 65 Coupe, has the in line six and we would like to keep it but pump it up a little.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  

I have seen people remove the single barrel carb and put a two barrel on, or I have seen three single carbs.  There was an article that was published here about it.  personally why do it the gas mileage alone is great with just the single carb and the six

You have something there.  That little six has a lot of pep the way it sits.  But it's not just an economy issue.  I've wanted a custom for years and this could be something special...

Thanks for the tip.  I just checkd out their web site and I am very impressed.  We are going to clean her up and get some body work done first (that's the Mustang, not Mom).  Then comes the engine rebuild.  Might take awhile, but we'll get there.  

I had my 200 built by clifford performance and they did a stand up job. Just make sure that you put the oil pump drive shaft in because they will not ship it with one. They didn't tell me that so of course I started my with out it, spun the bearings and had to send it back. They fixed it for me right away with no issues. Runs great, 2 barrel webber and dual outlet header. Sounds like a V8 with 2 1/4 pipes and flowmasters. Awsome performance for a 6.
