Hi Adam, are you saying it won't start or it won't crank?
If it cranks, take the coil wire off and hold it about 1/2 from the engine (unpainted bolt), crank the engine and look for a spark jumping the gap, if no spark you have an ignition problem (points). If you have spark, put the coil wire back & spray some starting fluid (available at any auto parts or Walmart) into the carb (manually open the throttle, spray the fluid, and close the throttle)  crank the car, it should start. If not check your dist cap and rotor for arc lines (cap) & corrosion.  Run it at a hi idle (but only if there's oil pressure being shown) after it starts to warm it up ( at least 3-5 minutes.

What question do you have?  We have the particulars of your car, but you haven't asked a question.

I have checked the fuel tank, pump, and lines.  They are all clear and working.  Fuel is going into the carb, float moves appropriately but there is no combustion.  Spark plugs and wires are good, firing order is right.  Starting fluid makes it start but it dies as soon as the fluid is burned off.  Any thoughts on what I should check next?

Rebuild or replace the carb.  It sounds like fuel is getting into the carb float chamber but not through the jets.  You should see a squirt of fuel when looking down the carb and quickly opening the throttle.  (Don't do this while cranking the engine.)  If not, this is a sign of carb problems.  Is your fuel old?  Old fuel doesn't ignite in the combustion chambers.

Thanks for your replies, I'm sure you are right about the carb being my issue.  Is there any way to clear the jets or do I need to just go ahead and take off the carb completely?  I wanna hear this baby roar!

You can disassemble it enough to get some things cleared out but I wouldn't do that.  If you drop a screw or something down the carb into the intake, you are in trouble.  It isn't that difficult to remove it before disassembling it.  Buy a rebuild kit and take your time.  You can have it done in a couple of hours.

Ford carbs are easy.

I am willing to take the carb off and do the rebuild.  Do you know how much the kit costs?  I have been out there messing with it and the float chamber is full, it starts for a few seconds on starting fluid but then dies.  Y'all still think this is a carb problem?
