I am having problems with the passenger side rear tail light and blinker.
I have intalled a new tail light kit, and replaced the bulb and the pig tail.
When I push on the pig tail, the bulb gets brighter. When I pull, just a little, on the pig tail, the blinker works. Once I have the blinker working, the tail light won't work. Once I have the tail light working, the blinder won't work.
Would this have anything to do with the turn signal switch?

Most likely. I wound up replacing the entire rear wiring harness when I had that problem, then replaced the turn signal. Knock on wood, she is still working. I hate electrical systems in these old cars. They are so archaic and mind boggling, even with a good wiring harness, which BTW, you shoud have along with a good meter.

I had a very similar problem with my tail lights. I spent a bunch of time in the trunk trying to find and fix it. Turned out it was the turn signal switch. There is/was a HOW TO article on this web site. Since I had to remove the steering wheel to replace the switch I put on a new Grant hardwood steering wheel while I was at it.

Before you throw the money at a new TSS, take the lense off and pop the bulb out. Make sure its an 1157 and the dots are uniform in size. Also, with the bulb out, take a test light and with just the tail lights on, check for voltage in the socket (connect the ground lead of your test lamp to the lamp housing, if it doesn't work there pick a known good ground point, like a fuel tank attach bolt) and the voltage is on the proper contact (org/blue for tail, red/blk for turn) . Turn the tail light off and do the same for the turn lamp. If both work, there's an issue with the ground or the pig tail may be wired backwards causing your problem
