Hello, I'm new to this forum and hopefully within the next few months I'll start restoring a 70 fastback. I live very close to Mustangs Unlimited in Atlanta, GA and was hoping to buy my parts there and save shipping. My question is what experiences do you have with them and how well do their sheetmetal parts fit? Ken

All the Overseas stuff is skechey. Spend the $ on original ford tooling or fix your original stuff if possible.
As far as Mustang Unlimited I personally have had no problems with them. I am sure someone has, being close if there is a problem at least you wont have to pay return shipping.

i ordered a set of aftermarket doors from mustang unlimtied for my 65 coupe. i was told there would be some modifying to do to them but the only thing i had to do is get a diffent size bolt to bolt them to the door hinges. it's nice to have a supplier that close but shop around also as they are alittle pricy for alot of things. also keep an eye on postings on craigs list and anything else local. people sell new parts all the time cause they either changed there mind or bought the wrong thing. another way to get good deals...go to swap meets.you wouldnt believe what you can find at them. new and used. good luck and have fun with your restore

Living close by is a HUGE advantage. Not only do you save on shipping but you can actually see the items before purchase. I drop by MU whenever I'm in the Atlanta area usually once a year or so plus order things to be shipped.
I've never had any problems except once I ordered a set of four Magnum 500 rims. They looked great and it took me several months to get around to mounting the tires. Once I got the tires and wheels home I was cleaning them good and scrubbing off the blue coating on the white lettering when I noticed one of the rims had a small bubbling air leak in the middle of the wheel where the center portion was mounted to the outer rim. I called MU in Atlanta where I had mail ordered the rims several months before. The original sales person I talked to on the phone said their policy was no swaps on wheels once a tire had been mounted due to possible damage being caused by me or the technician during the installation. I about went through the Moon and said let me talk to your boss. I explained to him the situation about how do you know if a rim is bad until you mount the tire? He agreed and laughed and gave me an invoice number for the return. I purchased another rim which arrived a few days later with no problems and had the tire mounted. It was several more months before I could get to Atlanta and return the defective rim but when I did they took it with no problems and credited my account the amount spent from nearly a year earlier.
I used CJ Pony Parts, NPD, and several others over the years and have always had good luck in my dealings. Normally the ones who advertise in Mustang Monthly have been around a number of years and offer good service. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

That's good news to hear positive reviews on Mustangs Unlimited. I was really hoping that would be the case. I'm going to need some large parts like floor pans and trunk floor among other things. I'm finishing up a home improvement project and hope to start on my car after the first of the year. So, I'll try to get out to MU sometime between now and then. Ken

Any thoughts about Mustangs Plus? They are a little closer to me (withing 800 miles) and I'm also looking to reduce shipping costs.

Yeah, I've got a NPD catalog coming in the mail soon. I've heard, through this forum I believe, that they carry more American-made parts, whereas some of the others carry import parts that might not fit or are made as well. Need to keep my American classic as American-made as possible!
