My 1969 mustang has been apart for several years, the paint shop removed alot of brackets etc and put them in a coffee can. I am putting it back together now and have noticed a strange 1/4" hole in the passenger side toe board close to the tunnel. Does anyone know what this is for? (I don't want to plug this hole, put in the carpet and then find out I messed up). Could it have something to do with the speedometer cable? The car has a 4spd and I don't know how to route the cable. I bought it 20 yrs ago from Ford. It looks like it has an attaching bracket about half-way. Where would this bracket attach? The strange hole mentioned above or does it attach to the bell housing or engine block somewhere? Thanks for any help, I am in a small town and no 4spd 69 mustangs around that I know of....

Don't think so, looks like it was punched from the engine side into the passenger area. Car is not a/c but I understand sometimes they make the same holes on all cars to simplify production. Car is a convertible V8 if that would make any difference. Thanks for the response.
