Hey Dennis,
I agree, I tried to change it, but for some reason when I go into my account it will not let me edit.

Well, time to bring back another old thread.
How's the car coming along?
I have recently purchased a similar car. It needs plenty of new metal and I've not yet learned how to weld. I have a 10 yr. old mechanic and we're intimidated by nothing...we also have very few "car" skills.
I "think" I'm ready to pull the engine and am trying to decide if I want to do it with the tranny attached or remove it 1st.
Any advice from the forum experts. (remember, I'm a novice.)
Thanks!

whatchasee.... pulling the engine on these old cars isn't to hard to do...if it was myself..i'd pull engine and tranny together but thats just me. then when the time comes to put it all back together do the reverse. it will make it so much easier hooking all back up. as for the welding part i was fortunate to have a friend that knows how to weld and showed be the basics. come to find out it's not to hard. just first..practice on scrap metal before doing anything on the car. and as i've read in other posts read read read ...and read as many articles books and postings as you can to learn what you need to do. getting that 10 yr old to read it to you will also be good for him. he'll learn things with you and before you know it he'll be working on the cars without you. if you have any friends that work on cars bug them..exspecially any of the old timers...they are a world of knowledge when it comes to the old mustangs. i myself i go down the the restore shop alot where i get my parts from. the man is a one person shop and he tells me shows me and talks to me. he's not like these big restore shops that talk at you like an idiot. so ask people like that for tips and tricks.
and i'm just another novice like yourself...i've been workiing on my car now for over a yr //maybe ..hopefully i can get it painted within the next month or so.
good luck to you

Tom...bingo. I've seen folks discourage resto jobs stating that:
you'll never get you $$ out of it. It's too much work The car is too far gone...
I figure I'll need about $1000.00 in new metal I have a permanent MIG loaner. I bought a floor jack/jack stands.
I need, well lots...but I figure I'll start with a 4.5" grinder and start taking off the pieces that I figure I'll need to do 1st. All the while destroying several pounds of sheet metal as I practice welding and removing my welds...over and over again until I can cleanly remove spot and seam welds. Which will lead to adding aprons, frame pieces and floors to the car. Hell, I plan on doing my own 1/4 panels...but I'm counting on friends who know how to do it to help.
That said, I have a 3 year plan and am in no hurry to take my rust bucket and turn it into a head-turner.
The project cars portion of this website is friggin' GOLD!
I look forward to seeing pictures of your car.
