Nice Gt Scott nothing like those lines huh ,,,, they dont make em like that anymore. JLG there are no ugly mustangs, just a lot unfinished ones,,lol. Besides I think your a guy that appreciates the mechanical side more.

clean ride scott. Have you had to do much to restore it, or have you guys kept it that way?

lethal67 - My dad had it worked on in 2001 before he died in 2005. New qrts, aprons, hood, valances, front seat covers, new trans bands, tires, etc. They didn't redue the interior, rework the engine or rear end, etc. In fact, they just changed hoses, fluids, filters, and did a compression test then turned it over. Amassing for having set for 15 years. It's a testament to the reliability of these engines. He spent $13K and as far as I'm concerned wasted a lot of money. I tried to get him to let me do it for him but he never mixed family and money. I've been working on the interior and making tasteful (in my opinion) mods. I still have all the mechanical to go through. When non-mustang people see it they say "I wish I had an old car". And I just tell they they really don't. You have to love this hobby because you rarely get your money back.

Yea, Its good you like mustangs as much as your dad. The 289 is a work horse. my 67 sat for 13 years when i got my hands on it. I rebuilt the carb, changed the fluids (including fuel), plugs and points and it fired right up. It would burn oil, and leaked Power steering fluid which is why i decided to do the overhaul. Not bad for a car with over 100k on it. The pic is this spring about 2 weeks after i brought it home. All the body needed to look like that was a good wash. I pulled the motor out, sandblasted the engine compartment, and found some driverside frame rail rot. So im sure there are some other hidden treasures for me to find later on. But like you said, you have to love this hobby.

Hi guys! I enjoy hearing your stories and input. I learn a lot from them. Thanks to all! As you did lethal67, I rebuilt the C code 4B 4100 Autolite on my GT 289 as the bowls wouldn't hold fuel and I had to pump it like a base drum to get it to flow. Now it turns over without any peddle. Sweet! I too replaced top and bottom seals as she was leaking like a sieve. Then I cleaned and repainted the intake and valve covers and used Glyptal paint on the interior surfaces (only the bottom of the intake). The rest of the eng rebuild will have to wait a year or two. I plan on a streetable, naturally aspirated 331 or 347 (cost is the driver). Have a good week!
