right headlight dims when the right turn signal is activated.  The hood light also has a small amount of current to it, noticable only at night.  Any suggestions

This has nothing to do with the voltage reg or alternator the right headlight blinks with the turn signal, with engine running or not.

If its blinking then you have a point. If its dimming then I suggest you read the whole post because your problem is the same. Whenever you activate lights they draw current and drop the voltage. Its the voltage drop that causes the problem. I suspect this happens at idle or with the engine off and not usually at speed when the alternator has 14+ volts in the system. If, as your saying it happens all the time,,,, then you may have a seperate issue and maybe some sort of cross wiring issue but I really doubt that because the load of your headlights would cause havoc with your blinker.

Chuck how much dim is dim?

The headlights do have their own local ground wires. So removing it, cleaning it and the local ground on the fender may help as well. Same for the signal/running light on that side. High level grounds cause some very interesting operational characteristics.
