Has anyone seen any 65's built in San Jose with the floor pans painted body color. Mine are more than over spray. The front end area is primed as is the rear section but the floor pan is body color with plenty of runs.Based on the history of the car I am fairly certain they were not painted by some one other than the factory.

According to the expert in MM( Bob Perkins) seems to imply the floor pans should be red oxide primered. If your certain, its OEM you have an unusual factory mistake.

I think the floorpans on the bottom are red oxide but I have not seen more then overspray on the interior. I dont think the interior was red oxide,,,at least my wasn't,,,it was unpainted and I POR-15'ed it. Anyone else have that ?

My interior floors on my 66 are unfinished also ('cept for traces of rust). I'm thinking of using rustolem though in lieu of POR15.

Forgive me for being naive, but is “POR 15” the stuff you just brush on? Does it really work?

I am referring to the underside of the car. I have not yet removed the interior.

Yeah you just brush it on, its potent stuff though. It seems to penetrate the metal and encapsulate any rust that is there. If you get it on you, it stays on you, until you wear it off,,same with anything else it touches. It was one of the first such paints on the market for rust encapsulation but there are others now. I still like POR-15 but Eastwood has some new paints also that I am trying on the calif special.
