Headlight buzzer keeps digging

I have a 98 V6 coupe. Just bought it. Very Nice low mileage car. Everytime you turn on the headlights the buzzer keeps dinging. It is like it thinks you are leaving the car with the lights on.
Do I need to replace the headlight switch - or is there a way to turn off the buzzer?
