When I reffered to brown sauce,,thats a descriptive term meaning a little too smooth or thick,,,I didnt mean brown color. I have seen a lot of restored mustangs that have this look, I am not saying its bad, I understand the corrosion protection and so on, I just think its not particularly stock and part of the tendency of people to over restore.

i was planning to replace the heater motor, many of the bolts, wires, brake lines, im going to pull the master cylinder, steering, shocks. All as a winter project. The motor, when it goes back in will look far from stock, but i still wanted the compartment to be mostly original. Is there a book that outlines colors and such from the factory. I have no idea how to get this information.

MCA is a good place to look. I got a set of judging tips from Charles Turner who is one of their chief judges. Unfortunately those tips are for the 65/66 group and the 67/68's are a little different in places. On their site however, you can access their archives and answer just about any question, if your a member that is. MM is also a good source and their articles quite often refer to stock and concours resto's. I also go to a lot of meets and keep a good stock of pictures of restored cars so I can refer to them later(you would be suprised how often they differ). Now that I have that 68 Cal. special I am gonna have to start getting pics of 67/68's also. They are tougher in part because there were also differences in them in california and 49 states models. Also a lot more options and engine choices, and I think restoration wise they are the adopted stepsister because there are not the same amount of pieces for those as say the 65/66 models.

Brable, my paint shop says dp90 is the best primer that PPG makes, is it a good base for a laquer paint job on the rest of the car or is it more of a primer for a basecoat clear?

It can be used under lacquer or under most topcoats. I would recommend a good base clear paint job or if you are going with a solid color then you could use a quality urethane. Please tell your paint shop thanks on the complement. DP primer is one of the best for restoration work.

when i got my car, i got enough lacquer paint with it to redew a couple panels. Since it is the paint that is already on it, whats could be wrong with some touch up?

Just for fun, since this is a restomod. I decided to change all the fender and shock tower bolts. Heres a pic of one in the shock tower. The heads will all be the same. They are stainless steal with a polished finish.

Hay lethal - Nice hex head! Where did you get these from? They are an interesting restomod touch.
