I have the Interior Décor group on my 66 and I’m getting ready to place the new carpet on my new kick panels.  I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion for doing this without damaging the carpet or panel.  The carpet has a clear adhesive on the backing and I used a heat gun yesterday to make sure it melts when heated and it does.  Is the best way to do this to cover the carpet with a cotton towel, use a dry iron, and heat the face of the carpet enough to melt the adhesive backing thus tacking it to the plastic kick panel?  This is how I’ve tacked carpet together in the house using an adhesive tack strip. Thanks!

Hair dryer works good too without risk if too much melting

Heat the plastic from the back... not the carpet side

I'll try the hear dryer/heat gun on the back of the kick panel first as that seams to have less potential for damage.  Thanks Mil1ion!

Well I tried the hair dryer and heat gun from the back heating the plastic kick panel and a dry iron over the carpet with a cloth and neither of them worked.  So I used 90 3M adhesive and that did the trick.
