Hi,

I'm about to start working nights, and I'm nervous about driving my 65 mustang and parking it overnight for fear of it being stolen.

Are there any sure fire ways that you guys know of to disable the car that won't be a huge inconvenience for me (like taking the battery into work with me!!)?

Thanks.

If they can open the hood or the door, the car can be stolen, not to mention just hauling it up on a flatbed. To illustrate, put a wire between the battery and the coil and you have a hot ignition, crank and start the car by jumpering the starter relay, open the door and the car is gone. Likewise if they can get under the dash the same thing is possible.  I would suggest you not drive it as the most logical way the prevent it. Else a hood lock. a good alarm system and a wheel boot may be you only alternatives.

I had the same issue with my daily driver, however, instead of priving my self of the pleasure to ride the car of my dreams after a full restoration just to pure fear, I bought an automatic transmission handle that has a lock on it that makes it a lot harder for thieves trying to steal my baby. I know that with some presistence my beauty may be gone, but at least it will take them a considerable time to figure out the way to unlock my transmission in order to free the rear wheels. Did I mention I have also a "Club" attached to the steering wheel on top of the previous-mentioned system?

Here's the site I got it from: http://home.teleport.com/~cosa/vap/TLock.htm

1) Install a ground-out switch that is actuated with a special key after you get out. This grounds out the coil to prevent it starting

2 Buy a "THE CLUB"

3)Chain and Lock for the hood

4)Doberman Dog Guard inside

5)Alarm system

6)Security Person and a lawn chair ($8.00/Hour)

7)Buy a  beater to get to work.

Lo-Jack or other GPS anti theft tracking. Or  how about a small explosive device hidden under the drivers seat that has just enough  projected  charge omph to blow your ass off (if not de-activated) but, besides needing a new seat, not do any real damage to the car.

Ford Mustang Research
Ford Mustang When looking for your next vehicle, think about the Ford Mustang, a stylish car with nice features. The Mustang gets 16 mpg in the city and 24 on the highway, and has drivers side crash test ratings of 5 stars and passengers side crash test ratings of 5 stars. You also might want to research the Ford Explorer and the Lincoln MKS.
