I am having a problem with my 5.0 roller motor idleing down. I set the idle at 850 rpm and 600 holley 4V is set correctly.  I have a standard torque converter.  I had heard that to resolve this problem i should use a stall converter around 1900 to 2500.  Anyone have an issue like this if so how did you resolve the problem.  By the my TV cable is set correctly so I'm sure that is not the problem either. Thanks

What exactly is the problem, please? (not idling down doesn't mean much)

Thanks for your response. What happens, setting in Park the engine speed is Idle  around 800rpm. When I shift into Reverse or Drive and the idle drops down to 500 and of course engine stalls.  So my question is, the AOD transmission has a standard converter not a stall converter. could this be the problem.  I had the transmission rebuilt before installing.  The TV cable pressure is set correctly so I'm pretty sure that's not the problem. Thanks for asking

I'm not sure about replacing the TC but the correct procedure to set the idle is to first set the dwell then timing. Once these are set the car is put into gear and idle speed set with it in gear to 550 -650 rpm. Then the idle fuel needles are set to give the best idle speed performance. Then the idle speed is readjusted to back into the 550 - 650 range (idle range depends on how good it runs slow and performs off of idle)
