I'm not sure which clutch kit to purchase for my C4 to t5 conversion. My car is a 65 Mustang fastback with a stock 289. It is also equipped with a stock 8in open rearend. I plan to eventually modify the 289's performance to about 300-325 hp and change the rearend to a posi with about 3.89:1 gears. I was thinking of a 10" or 10.5" Center Force Stage I or II. I'm also going to use the clutch cable kit. I don't want the clutch pedal to be so stiff that it takes the fun out of driving the car. Anyone have any opinions or suggestions?
Thanks

i have used an 11" long style PP with the 164 tooth flywheel since the mid 1970's. i used a diaphram PP once and didnt like it. right now i use a HAYS 37-220 PP ,it has 2400lb spring pressure and i drive in stop and go traffic in Los Angeles. a long time ago i used a SCHAFER PP (now owned by Mcleod) that was 2600lbs and it was easy to push. i prefer 11" cause the larger diameter has more holding power than the 10 or 10.5 all things being equal. i use a HAYS 40-118 (1.375 input shaft)organic sprung hub disc and this holds just under 600 horses fine.

I have a similiar setup 65gtfstbk and I prefer the Centerforce. Right now I have a 10.5 McCleod on mine and a cable clutch and the pedal pressure is too much for my liking. I had the 10.5 centerforce on a beefed 351 and it was flawless. Solved all my chatter problems too. Not all flywheels will accept the 11 inch clutch. I would go with the 10.5 centerforce II you wont be sorry. The 3.8 rear in a 8 inch is perfect for the T-5, mine is also a posi but you will need some traction bars to stop wheel hop with the low first and second gears. I have a little more HP maybe but I got wheelhop even going into second gear with a five leaf rear spring. I used the lakewood bars and they solved the problem, the shelby style is suitable also.
