I am currently restoring a 66 mustang. Recently i was working on the wiring and when i started the car, the positive wire that goes to the constant voltage unit regulator behind the dash burned completely up to where the wire splices. I was unsure to why this wire would have burned. Did this happen because the CVR went bad? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the Forum. Wires burn when they pass too much current. This is usually caused by a reduction in circuit resistance (exmpl: 12v / 150 ohms = .12 amps. 12 v / 50 ohms = .240 amps). The most probable cause of the failure would be a short of some kind within the inst. voltage regulator.
