I was wondering how much trouble it would be to install a ram air kit like in the 68 and higher mustangs. I want to throw a fully functioning hood scoop on my fastback and i want the engine to pull its air from the scoop. This idea caught my interest in the June/ July magizne (the one that just came out.) and it showed how to do this in younger mustangs but i want to do this to mine. Any ideas of how to do this cheaply?

There are a few companies that make cold air induction kits for early Mustangs.
They use an oversize enclosed airfilter housing with two 3 or 4 inch diameter flex tubes that you run down under either side of the radiator to draw cold air from under the car. If set up right it will even provide higher pressure ram air when up to cruising speed. See one advertised in July 2009 Mustang Monthly on page 12.
That would be the chaepest and easiest way to accomplish what you want without cutting up your classic's hood.
I did that to my '66 and it works great. You can see a picture of it in the March 2007 issue of Mustang Monthly on page 18.

Ford Mustang Research
Ford Mustang When looking for your next vehicle, think about the Ford Mustang, a stylish car with nice features. The Mustang gets 16 mpg in the city and 24 on the highway, and has drivers side crash test ratings of 5 stars and passengers side crash test ratings of 5 stars. You also might want to research the Ford Explorer and the Lincoln MKS.
