Turned the key on my 84 2.3 LX and click, click, click, then nothing.  Not even dome light or buzzers. Cleaned battery posts and connectors, Replaced solenoid.  Replaced battery. Pulled and checked starter.  Real culprit - Bad ground cable.  Ground cable insulation was brittle and flaking off and exposed copper was green from corrosion.  Had generator shop fabricate new one and wallah!  Word to the wise...   Check battery cables first!!!  An half hour project turned into days because I overlooked this simple step.  Hope this helps someone out there.
