I am planning on putting GT40 heads on my 65 289 Mustang -- Do these heads require special headers or exhaust manifolds?? I am told there is an issue with spark plug angles.  Any suggestions??

I assume you mean the later model GT40P heads. Yes there is a problem with spark plug location if you use mustang headers(no room for the wire) however Ford racing and a few others have a header designed for those heads now I believe. The issue is that the plugs used to be angled toward the exhaust valve and are straight in the Gt40P heads.
