I wanted reuphoster my 66 mustang bucket seats, and the original foam is damaged, so wanted to get a new foam. I search the web and found hundreds of offers, and the prices range from 70-100$ some even cost more. but the problem is that non of those selling the foam give info about the quality, manufacturer' etc. ... I really don't know what? where and how to buy? is every foam I find over the web is good enough? should I go for the lowest price? or....?

Get good seat buns from a quality Mustang resto shop that has experience with the manufacturer's products. Not all buns are created equal. The $30 difference in price will be long forgotten but the comfort or discomfort of your choice will last as long as you plant your behind in the driver's seat. My buns (seat) were worth the extra price.

as the foam will be shipped out side the Us and it will be issued to shipping and taxes , the 30$ is not the issue still if I am to buy those buns there's no way back, and I am stuck with whatever I've bought, now the problem that on the websites all foams look the same, and all sellers claim they have "plenty of experience" and "these foam of the highst quality in the market" so...really don;t know from whom to purchase these

lucilleO, that's why I mentioned it might be a good idea to purchase from a good Mustang resto shop near you. Then if the foam is defective or not up to par you can return it. I don't know what part of the country you live in but there are numerous good Mustang parts places all over the USA that stand behind what they sell. Some will even do the installation too. National Parts Depot, Mustang's Plus, Dallas Mustang, Sacramento Mustang, The Paddock, Mustangs Unlimited, Tony Branda, Larry's Mustang Parts, etc. The list goes on and on.

actually I am from israel... , I will be paying alot of money for the shipping and customs (much more than 200$ for each foam) so again the 30 $ diffrence is not the issue here as long as we're talking about good quality. I have contacted CJpony and Laural Mountain Mustangs and both claim they have "very high quality foam" or "of the highest quality"...so what do you think? one other option I am considering is to purchase reupholstered set (as I already paying for the customs an shipping)...but I can't find any in good enough Condition?

I understand now. Thanks for clarifying. I think either of those two suppliers you mentioned can provide you with a good product. Please define "reupholstering set". I think you mean the entire set of seat upholstery and seat buns as a package or kit. Please correct me if I assumed incorrectly. If you need new seat upholstery in addition to the seat buns then that makes sense to buy all at once and only have one package to ship and clear customs. Four years ago I bought new front seat buns and new pony interior seat upholstery for both front seats and the rear seat from Mustangs Plus in Stockton, CA. They sell TMI brand seat upholstery. The quality, color, texture and fit were very good. Looked original after installation and I was not disappointed. Other Mustang supply houses on the East Coast also sell TMI products. I'm sure there are other manufacturers who make great seat kits too but this is the only brand I have personal experience with. Hope that helps.

thanks for your reply. whe I said a "reupholstered set", I meant buying an entire set of seats (front bucket and rear seat) with a new covers or at least good enought cover that can be used for a daily driver and later on reupholstered ( take underconsidration I have already purchased upholstry). I understand than when it comes to buns I should go for manufacturers like TMI. do you know any other manufacturer? you see I am in dilemma: shipping foam for two front buckets is almost as expensive as shipping of the two entire buckets, that is why I am considering to find seats to by and forget my original frames...

Original used Mustang bucket seats in good enough condition to use "as-is" for a daily driver are hard to find and you really don't know what you bought. They will most likely be expensive in any case if you can even find a good set. In my humble opinion it would be wiser to re-bun and re-upholster your existing original seats that came with your car as long as the frames aren't broken and the sliding tracks still work. Trying to make someone elses used seats work might not be so great. Makes you wonder why they are getting rid of them and what is really wrong with them. The devil you know is better than the devil you don't know. Once you have put new buns and upholstery on your frames they will look and feel like new and last for years. The used ones could fall apart after awhile and you would be right back where you are now. Why pay good money to just postpone the inevitible when that same money could make your existing seats look great and be durable? ACI (American Cushion Industries) makes a good professional grade seat bun that is approved by the Mustang Club of America and is sold through National Parts Depot (NPD) among others. Scott Drake Mustang Parts also sells good seat buns.
