Hello,

I'm new to this forum, I'm french and the happy owner of a 73 grande equiped with a code Q (which carb I just finished restauring). My car is from California and it was originaly equiped with a 351 2V, the previous owner surelay made the swap.

I have been looking all over the web and asked the same question on a few forums already but no answer so far....

My VIN starts with 3 for 73, then F for Dearborn and then insted of 04 for Grande, it is GA... First we thought it was the french data plate put there when imported that was wrong (a worn out 04 could look like a GA...) but I finaly located the VIN on the frame and it is not worn out at all and it says 3FGAH128308...

I could understand a mistype that big from a fench dude at Le Havre harbor But from someone working at Dearborn, the mistype would have been maybe one wrong digit, maybe 2, but surely not 2 letters insted of 2 numbers!!!!

Any clue? Anyone????

Thanks in advance for any light you could shed on my little enugma!

Cheers

Jett

Jettho,
My '81 has a "7" where every other Mustang that year (and since, I believe) have a "P" for "passenger car" (eg, 1fabP), so it's not the first time.  If I could only find that 6 cyl fastback with "R" engine code...  I hope someone else here can shed some light on your unique VIN.

Thanks Barry! So I'll have to settle for mistype in the end then...
Candidly I was hoping for something out of the ordinary haha

ok, so I tried and they said it was a wrong vin number, so I'll go for GA is a mistype for 04 and leave it to that!
Thank you dudes!
