I am in the process of buying a 73 Mach 1. I had one 25 years ago and I am looking for clues on how to identify a true 4v Q code engine. The vin numbers are correct, but how can I tell if the heads are correct ?

The block casting number should be D2AE-CA, heads should be D1ZE-GA and have a "4V" cast into the ends of the casting near valve cover.  Obviously a "2V" would be wrong. I think this is correct.

The Mustang gets 16 mpg in the city and 24 on the highway, and has drivers side crash test ratings of 5 stars and passengers side crash test ratings of 5 stars. You also might want to research the Ford Explorer and the Lincoln MKS.
