I currently have air shocks in the rear of my 72 mustang but they will no longer hold air more than 2 or 3 days. My question is should I replace them with new air shocks or go with something different? What are the advantages of the air shocks other than easy adjustability? Any good shocks out there for this mustang?

Air shocks were always popular because of the ease of raising the rear of a car for clearance of big tires. But there is a danger of damage to the floorpan around the shock mount because it is not braced to support the weight than is being supported. The car needs to be supported by the springs and the shocks be allowed to shock. Rearc the springs or add a leaf. Long shackles are ugly.

Yeah, I echo Cushman here. I did it when i was a kid and it worked then but a better alternative, as pointed out, is to add a leaf or re-arc the springs.
