ive got a 88 gt with some mild work done to it, im having a problem, my volt gauge jumps between 12 and 15, put meter on battery it goes from 12.2 to 15.6 very fast back and forth, i have replaced the battery, 3 alternators, which was upgraded to the newer model with internal fan, not the external, wiring is all good at both, the problem is when driving at night the headlights flash like im a cop, dont want to get into trouble but i cant figure it out, any advice would be great, also have a erratic idle, jumps up and down, idles great when cold but goes nuts after warm

try a a new AIV(or troubleshoot the idle circuit for potential vacumn leaks). the idle settings are most likely causing the Voltage to spool up as the engine speeds up.jlg

Yes, some car companies call it the AIV also, air idle control valve.
