Need Help!
Recently I purchased a 1970 Coupe body, no motor or transmission. The driver's side door VIN tag has been destroyed and can't be read. There is no VIN plate on the driver's side dash corner. When I removed both the fenders, I did find what appears to be matching VIN numbers, stamped on the apron just near the shock towers. The strange thing is there are only 8 alpha-numeric charaters, instead of the customary 11 alpha-numeric charaters. The number begins with a star and ends with a star. Ford says this is not a vaild VIN and has been unable to help, so far. Does any know whats going on here or has the same issue? Is there anywhere else to look on the car?
This is the VIN: *1T108863*

If you can't provide a VIN, L dash on 69+ cars, you're going to have a big problem with the DMV trying to prove this unit wasn't stolen or scrapped. I suggest you discuss this with the DMV before you put a lot of time and money refurbing the shell. good luck.
