I have 351W motor that a bought at a junkyard a long time ago. The intake has raised letters on the #1 intake runner in a retangle box that reads SHELBY, the fire order is 13726348 and under neath it says Buddy Bar. And on the thermostat housing in raised numbers it reads 9/29/69 (Happy 40th Birthday, Intake). It is a dual plane type intake. Mustang Monthly had done an article on these intakes years ago, but I don't remember much about the article. The motor is numbers in the valve train reads 351WCP10. Is this a special motor? I am curious how many of these intakes where produced and what cars this may have been installed in. I have been to alot of swap meets and car shows to include Carlisle, and Pate in Texas and in between and I have never seen another for the 351w motor. I have asked people at the shows and they look at me like I crazy and bsing them. Any information would be appreciated.

this is the aftermarket version of the original FORD-SHELBY-COBRA 351W factory large plenum aluminum intake. The factory Ford intake that came on the 69-70 GT350 has part # C9OZ-9424-E and could be bought over the counter. i was talking to Larry at Valley Head Service in Northridge ,Ca. a while back and mentioned that intake cause i would like to have the original ford one and he said he was the guy that designed it. i knew a guy that has one and pulled it off and put an edelbrock performer rpm intake on his hot 351w and didnt go as fast. i read a few articles some time ago and the factory one is said to be a great intake short of the airgap and up. i dont exactly remember what was said about the buddy bar version being not quite as good as the original (possibly designed not to be exact for patent reasons) but i remember it was up there with the edelbrock rpm.a final note i use to race a friends 73 mach 1 with a 351c that had the factory lowrise aluminum intake. the guy put a torker intake on and it slowed down significantly , even after all the rejeting and trying 2 other holleys of different sizes it was still slower, ford did a great job on those facory aluminum intakes.
