my 66 2+2 keeps blowing the 14amp fuse for the backup lights, radio and washer pump. i checked the connections and they seem OK. i don't have the washer pump hook up because i have yet to receive it from cj pony. i found on one of the back up lights was rusted and the bulb would not come out. so after a can of WD40 and elbow grease got it out.. the other side had the wrong size bulb in it was a 1156 bulb. my question is what out of all this would cause my fuse to blow? everything is grounded and hooked up except the washer pump. any ideas? thanks

Really clean the rusted back-up light. Without knowing more detail I would say that the rust might act as a conductor to a short curcuit path. You might also check your tranny's reverse sensor to be sure it is OK to operate your back-up lights. Also check to be sure the power wire for your washers isn't loose and shorting on something while you a waiting for the parts from CJ Pony.

The fact the fuse blows means the circuit is exceeding 14 amps at some point in time. Why, will require the use of an inline ampmeter to look at the circuit amperage to determine what it is. It could be an intermittant short to ground or it could be any of the wires, compenents in the circuit. Whatever you do don't put a gum wrapper over the fuse unles you want to repalce a smoked harness. BTW, 1156 is ok for the BU lights.jlg
