I need some assistance in determining what engine I have in my 72 Mach 1.  I bought the car back in high school (many years ago) with an anemic, but original 2 barrel. Well, like most kids, 4 barrel had to be better, so I pulled the original engine and threw in a 4 barrel I bought from a friend already rebuilt.  Well, I am getting ready to tear back into this car and want to determine the engine I currently have.  Where can I find the casting numbers to decipher?  It is a 351 cleveland, but I do not know the original year nor production date.  I would like to determine if it is a plain 4 barrel or if it is a CJ or HO or what?  How can I determine what variety of 351 cleveland I have?

You can pull the valve cover and get the casting number of the head, then normally over by the starter above the pan is the block casting number, then post them on the sight.
